An designer in the city would necessarily develop the urban and land atmosphere. I suggest it in 2 aspects:
1 – Public spaces design
The spatial designs induce uses. The user can benefit a good value image just seeing these. This has to be a real condition for each project with a symbolized space development.
A symbolic for 2 reasons: first to restore meaning to the gaps that attend every days thousands of people.
Secondly to offer a lisibility to the city net, its human dimension as its functionality.
The mind structure of the city and the developped atmosphere are the foundations of the idealistic: the lived and understood city.
2 – Guidance for Urban Furniture
Towns are protecting their urban environments around their architectural heritage. There are the ZPPAUP guidance. Most of them don't do the same for furnitures that are in this environment (urban furniture, advertising displays, outdoor cafes...). Why do we pay attention to what must remains for centuries (as no to spoil the future generations) and not to what is our every day life (this ones we suffer all the time)?
The idea is a regulation for furniture in the city, like the ZPPAUP do for architectures.
A guidance is intended to secure the practices in a particular area.
It could be an agreement (with obligation of means) or a contract (with obligation for results), it commits the signatories to comply local guidelines, expressed as rules or suggestions.
As it it responds to an honour code for each contractor.
Reading this blog you know that my designer's added value is to performe the user-centering project. Again I divide the topic in 2 parts:
3 – To meet and to understand
Decision makers often have difficulties to understand current low developments in the people on their territory. Of these are emerging new practices which may become a kind of norm in future years. It becomes necessary to engage discussions for projects in these ways developing in the next decades.
So we need to see and share these attempts in open-team to clear the possibilities in cognition, psychology, uses, ergonomy and economy which will make the city of tomorrow.
4 – Co-creat the city5 – The Territorial Identity
Identity is the recognition of what we are by ourslef and others. This would be the image that people have. It starts with a brand, then by the atmospheres, and finally by the life-experience.
All the territory can ''produce'' is concerned from spaces to services and economy. Developping this identity is giving the territory a personality, a soul, and each of these ''products'' would find its place with the user.
The components of the territory are parts of this identity: atmosphere, ergonomy, uses, aesthetics... are the mark of the brand, its appropriation, and with the repetition phenomenon, the range will define a clean ''writing''.
You would be as gentlemen as possible woting for me clicking the superhero who wears underpants over the pants, even if you're a girl:
