How hard is it to be a creative these days?

That's some months I'm searching a job in teaching design.
Without a strong success.

Some rare times you receive an answer to your candidature (so you are happy to receive a negative answer since some much recruiters are not paying attention to people as more than just a data base to use when they need) this one was special:

I would like to thank you for your interest in our school [...]. I also wanted to tell you, and this was the occasion of a long discussion with the teaching team during this period of school year starting, that we see from year to year the increase of the number of candidates for this kind of jobs and this only reinforces our attention to the economic conditions of the work in art or artistic careers. We are in a time when many things are to be reinvented - here are too for sure.

So the director is asking himself how hard is it these days to work in an artistic career as he sees the increase of postulate.
This is not good if you think these careers are with a high added value, in a country where global economy is working well, in a global world about consumption.
