20 years ago I was in Cuba for a training period.
Yep, like that.
A few years later the website AdmirableDesign (created by Gérard CARON) started a blog platform to share about design all over the worl (made by Joris BEBIN).
I participated with my cuban experience, also with deutsch and finnish ones.
I loved this exchange platform but then it went without maintenance and died.
I wanted to have a trace from this. Actually the idea emerged when I started to teach in 2015!
Every year since I've been saying I wanted to repost all of this as a good resolution.
It's 20 years since I've been in Cuba so I decided it was time to find and restore these archives as to repost these.
Also to repost the articles I wrote for the main site AdmirableDesign and why not my famous A Blog of Comics about Design (it should be published on Insta too, that could be a pretty way to make it alive again).

You need clothes to go do sport so I've created some designs on a website (which makes those to send to you... and I gain a few nothing and empty for every product sold) and here are 2 from this springtime: D'obèse à marathonien [From Obese To Marathonman (this is the actual subtitle of the channel)] and Objectif marathon [pretty sure you understood this one and because it what I'm... running after! Haha ! Joke!).
As you can see there are still tank tops, sport shirts, hats, sweatshirts, but also anti-CoVid masks, pencil case, lunch case, insulated bottle, stickers, iPhone covers... And there are magnets now!

It's been a while since I've published the best quotes from my students.
Probably since someone told me that if my students see that they could think I make fun of them which is absolutly not the point (I'ld even say these are moments I smile)!

Here are some new ideas about Stellantis!
That's easy for me to introduce these ideas without any industrial nor rentability goals! Of course they have been debated by the boards so either they have been cancelled or somewhere in progress. This is just an intelectual game for my mental health!
So here is a new range about Chrysler against Toyota with the renewed sedan based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia, plus a smart coach and a premium SUV:
Under this big SUV we could imagine a family minivan based on the Peugeot 5008 and as an entry it's a chinese Citroën (a C3-L sedan which also exists with a SUV version C3-XR that would have its place in here).
Same
problem with Dodge as the italian sedan gives its (elongated) base to
the Jeep Grand Cherokee it will give it to the Durango the Charger
and the Challenger. Here is my vision for the next Charger (that would probably be all-electric).
Under this we could use the original Giulia to
enlarge the range with the same trio: sedan (well a rebadged Giulia)
SUV (that's a rebadged Maserati Levante) and a sport coach? Here are the Caliber sedan and its coupé version Barracuda to dream a little more.
Even without reality in mind I can't imagine those brands to offer a range for each market in a short time so the idea is more about giving more dynamism to their image as I'm sure they gain good money on their actual markets (and not enough on the others... otherwise they would have invested them already).
Now I have to teach by myself. Oftenly I'm using lessons other teachers let on the web and sometimes I'm using some booklets I've bought.
For example I've made a lesson to teach the main lines to draw a technical sketch using a booklet so I don't have to make every picture from blanck (so I gain time as I don't have enough of it) and I make the lesson my way with these pictures.
First question: why the examples in the very firsts lessons are not the same? When you have to make it clear for everyone? Is it a choice to change from an example to another? Or may the first example not good for the second lesson so you just change it?
Then it comes worst.
If you don't know all views have to be aligned: the floor is the same for the face viewx than for a side one and of course the height has to stay the same.
You can use a 45° line to verify from a side view to the top view (okay this is the sense we use in a lot of countries but not in every deal with it). I want to keep the same example from the first lesson so I have to draw the 45° line by myself. And it doesn't reach the face correctly!!
Why don't you respect the rules you've done yourself in the previous lesson? Do you expect students to learn well like that? With wrong examples?

I've lost a few hours re-doing that. I benefited this time to add some points that will be usefull. Of course I made myslef a mistake with a detail too big (well that's not really a mistake but it would have been easier to understand if smaller) Well, too late, I'll remake this next year!

Since the british sport brand MG was purchased by the chinese NAC in 2005 (and mostly as they had launched new ranges in Europe and all over the world) you imagine how I could not stop myself to draw some potential future sedans su-compacts and... roadsters which have always been the image of this brand!
I wanted a small roadster but I understand how this kind of cars can be hard to reach rentability so I allowed myself to imagine a partnership with Toyota to rebadge the Daihatsu Copen (and I've made it on Sunday lunchtime so I went to economize my effects too by changing only lights face and hood):
That was great to have a dream!
Now is time to go to work!

A new scholar year just started and this blog has been in hollidays with me!
This time I've lost 2 groups of 'difficult' students, a strong thought to my co-worker who have it hoping she will manage to handle them!

For my part I'm worry about some Vocational Baccalaureat new students.
Let's say it shortly: the government needs more money to give to the CEOs so it cuts outs financial programs for specialized helping schools so the children who need these are send in Profesional Certificates so students who would be good at that are now in Baccalaureat.
This is not new.
But this year I have some students who are not able to draw parallels, not even straight lines... A mark every 2cm? First is at 1,3 second at 1,8 then 4... I had to teach to 3 of them how to use a ruler. You know the plastic double-decimeters have some empty space before the zero mark? They were measuring from the plastic limit. And they had a hard time to understand how to use the centimeters marks.
I'm not asking to boycott anyone but the worst students this year all come from the same school... a private one! And they also have baccalaureat classes so did they throw them to use?
I'm supposed to work the project process with them but they are as good students as it seems so it will be a funny year!

The idea was part of my Project52 challenge (a design project per week): covering Bic pens with leather, wood or precious metal and any other precious material so valorize the owner.
That was a time when a wedsite was organizing the Designboom Marts: a marketplace moved on every big design event where creators were able to sell their home made productions. If I had the tools to do it I would definitively have ask to sell this in there!
I did knewpublished the idea on networks, without any come back.
Since then the brand launched the exact same idea: leather covered Bic pen

We have heard a lot about Belarus after the country detourned a plane from its space to injail a political opponent. We don't hear anymore since, why?
Firstly: Byelorussia or Belarus? Well the first name was used after WWI but may have sounds too marked by the sovit period so now the second one is the official (and it's the actual government which made this decision).
In fact Belarus government was yet high in ou medias during springtime when they injailed a womand because... she was wearing white and red stripes socks: the politic opposition colours!
This is a song from the most popular children show in the 80's in France but these are more the colours of Waldo!
Red and white can have strong meanings in some religions but they mostly are the colours from... pre-soviet period, once again. The actual belarus flag is from 1995 (yet the actual president).
The main opponent said once these were "the colours of honesty" so every products (flags, scarves, umbrellas, bracelets) can become a silent symbol. The firm selling these socks stopped to produce it!
Injailing people because of what they're wearing is kind of stronger than French Education Ministry arguing about "non-republican" crop-tops in schools.
But this is a reminder of a book I've gifted a lot a long time ago, may it be red in schools...

For more than one year I've been publishing diecast racing videos on YouTube [you can see this channel by clicking here].
Of course I'm not PiewDiPie nor T-Serie my fame is really small as only 4 of my videos are over 100 views! And it took them time since my very first day ("youtubers" count only on the first 3 days)!
But still my audience is worldwide!
I'm in touch with someone in Portugal whom I then bought a track (for NASCAAAARRR races!!) and some comments arrived from all over the world saying that my commentary ambiant was very cool by non-french speaking people [so now I wrote english sub-titles, yes I wrote them, yes this is long to do] and so on until another diecast racing wannabe youtuber asked me... to comment his races!
Yes, he race, film and edit the videos he comments for his channel then he edit differently so I comment and publish on my own channel.
One small think: he's from Tokyo!! You can understand I feel like an international star with this kind of collaboration!

I didn't checked if this is all exact so let's pretend it's right.
We can see France is not with the best as we are in the second rank: repeated violations of rights.
We can see the countries with which we are "modelling" the world (mostly the economic one) are globaly violating worker's rights... when they have worker's rights!

That's one month I didn't published anything. The worst is that the posts all along september were made in advance.
I can't find neither the time nor the energy to make this AFTER my day. Teacher is said to be a nice job without working... Sometimes I would like not to work!
I'm not sure teachers ever have been "notables" but now their heads can be cutted by anyone who disagree.

Didn't I promised one new collection every new season? And here comes the autumn / fall. Winter is coming.
As you can see this season is all about the traditional wooden knife from Savoy.
Except I didn't asked to use the Opinel brand so I'll say this is about the traditional alpin knife. After all the profile is exactly the same all over our mountains from France to Italy. Except the Opinel is thicker because real knives have curves.

Without information about the classes I should have I didn't prepared anything for my lessons. So I've took some designs out from a cardboard, to make new clothes:

A few hundreds books come in the bookstores at the same time of the year, and that's now. So I'v read one.
Okay, I have to admit this is a 3 years old book. It was lost on a table at my parents home (my sister likes this kind of litterature).I don't.
I have to say that the title was also attractive to me, a souvenir of a not too old trip in the US.
There is on very good point on this kind of book. It's 561 pages but the 11 firsts are dedicated to the presentations of the title, the author, the editor. The rest is written quite big with like 20 lines of 8 words a page.

But the story was not my taste. The Willing Suspension of Disbelief doesn't work when too much details keep me out from the author's fantasm like he was a superheros in a thriller movie.
For example one of the main characters is a policeman and he went with his wife and his daughter (who is too old to benefit the young child pay-off) travelling all over the world every year. He has an artistic culture I can't believe for a policeman. A lot about jazz music so of course that calls Boris Vian's ghost who wrote a lot of books quoting jazz references because he was in love with this music. He was writing this easily, light and sometimes funny.
In this book I found this heavy, permanent and too much.
Mainly the characters are unable to take a logical decision. Well I can understand that what you would call a novel, if they are logical there is no drama.
The same policeman is in the east of France one night and in NYC the newt morning. Is it even possible to have your passport - visa - plane ticket in such a few time?
In resume I don't really enjoy this kind of book.
That's like a Tarantino's movie, at the end I need to see again a good movie from the genre he decided to "swede". Frison-Roche, Umberto Eco, Maxime Gorki. I don't like this idea because I don't read a lot of fiction so I'ld prefer to discover a new one rather than re-reading one I know.
My dad let me another book to read so this will be my first choice for the end of this month.
